Eghosa Akenbor

Born on 10 May 1982, Eghosa Raymond Akenbor is a Nigerian artist with a talent for experimentation and dramatic artistic expressions.

His juxtaposition of colours and found objects makes his canvases full of interesting and unique stories that aim to evoke a wide range of feelings in the viewer.

His works constantly exude vibrancy, countless formations, storied shapes, and intrinsic textures that aim to evoke emotive magic that transports it to a whole new world.

After his elementary and secondary education, Eghosa found himself studying Micro-Biology at the prestigious University of Benin, where he obtained a diploma. After his degree programme, his creative instincts opened up, leading him to earn a National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Painting and General Arts respectively at Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria between 2004 and 2008. He later decided to go further and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education at the National Institute of Teachers, Kaduna, Nigeria in 2014.

Heavily inspired by the environment, Eghosa, who lives in the culturally and historically aesthetic city of Benin in southern Nigeria, creates his art to reflect the glow of the African sun and some indescribable intangibles using colours, lines, shapes, textures as well as recycled materials among others in an attempt to transform scrap into art.

Eghosa is actively involved in impacting the next generation of dynamic artists as he currently teaches Creative Art at a Missionary Secondary School in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria as well as writes and publishes articles about his art on his blog.

Eghosa has been represented by several international galleries, has been part of several articles published in international magazines such as Average Art Magazine Uk, and in Wotisart Magazine Uk in 2017, International Contemporary Art Greece/USA in 2013 and in Pomona Valley Review USA in 2013, 2014 and 2015. In addition, his works have already been present in several international exhibitions such as, International Group of Exhibition of Contemporary Art - '' EMOZIONI IN MOSTRA - Armenia meets the world''; Castel dell'ovo, Naples, Italy in 2019, Marcel's Attic Art Auction Party; Clare street, London, UK in 2019, Dalla Grafica All Africa, Lugano, Switzerland in 2016, Show de Bola, Brazil and Spectrum Miami, USA in 2014.
