From "Dahshour Diaries", artist Emad Ibrahim depicts scenes from his memory collected during the mornings he spent gazing at faces in Dahshour Market. It was by pure chance that he was led onto the train that took him without any pre-planning, and left him in the dark of night at the crowded station where he stayed until first light in Mazghona - Dahshour. The few minutes that separated the cold of the night from the heat of the day were inspiring and magical enough to settle into his consciousness for almost twelve years! This experience led him to repeat the visit again and again and to pour his emotionally charged experience onto the canvases of his latest collection, revealing different types of representations. In an effort not to lose the essence of the fresh vigour that characterises the sketching technique, Ibrahim recreates the scenes in quick strokes using oil-pastel and acrylic, thus preserving the spontaneity and charge of emotions associated with this technique. A good example is the movement and commotion of the market, which is strongly transmitted to the viewer.
