"This work was born out of a series of works produced during the lockdown of the covid-19 pandemic. African countries faced enormous challenges, especially in rural areas. There was an urgent need to inoculate the population, but vaccines were slow to arrive. In the media, the headlines were about which vaccine was best for the countries that had the privilege of choosing the pharmaceutical companies that produced the different vaccines."

Thó Simões

Thó Simões, born in Malanje, Angola, in 1973, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Luanda. A graduate of the National Institute for Artistic and Cultural Training (INFAC), his artistic career is marked by a plastic versatility that combines the symbolism of ancestral Angolan cultures with the language of contemporary urban art.
