Erika Jâmece

Erika Sena da Silva Jâmece, was born in Luanda on 11 July 1977, and carried out her training in the fields of arts and aesthetics in several institutions, being relevant her passages through INFAC - ENAP (National Institute of Artistic and Cultural Training - National School of Plastic Arts - Luanda - Angola)1996/2000 and through INEP (Institute of Intensive Professional Education - Lisbon - Portugal) 2003.

The journey through the Visual arts is marked by commitment and progression in discovery, in a process of self-training, creating her own technique not adhered to the more conventional canons of the academy.

Erika Jâmece is a free spirit. Her spontaneity and endless creativity are marked personality traits, which are transposed to her work. Her roots and her relationship with the most genuine traditions of her people run through her work.

The artist, who lives in Angola and Portugal, is known in some artistic circles as the Queen of Hongolo, which in Kimbundo (one of the native languages of one of the ethnic groups of Angola) means Rainbow. The fantasy of colour, creative freedom and African roots are in fact dominant traits in all her artistic production, which covers the fields of painting, engraving and tapestry.

2017 - Participation in the painting exhibition, held within the 34e Festival des Migrations, des Cultures et de la Citoyenneté, Luxembourg; 

2016 - Camões / Portuguese Cultural Centre, Luanda;

2015 - Solo exhibition at the Angola Pavilion at the Universal Exhibition Expo Milan, Milan;

2014 - Collective Exhibition Elas Expõem... Conexões Cores e Formas - Forte de São Jorge de Oitavos, Cascais; Portugal.
