About The Artwork

Feeling Blue
by E.D. Adegoke, 2019

It's a blue day; I woke up sad,
The weight of sorrow drives me mad.
A heavy sigh escapes my lips,
I struggle through this fog that grips.

The sky is gloomy, bleak, and grey,
I feel lost, with no words to say.
The world seems dull, without a hue,
I can't shake off this feeling of blue.

But then a ray of sun breaks through,
The clouds disperse, revealing the blue.
I draw a deep breath, fresh air fills me,
Taking away the despair, setting me free.

I realize, as I look around,
That beauty is always there to be found—
In the tiniest things, in every sound,
Hope for a new day, waiting to be crowned.

Slowly, my heart begins to sway,
The sadness starts to fade away.
I smile as I step into the new day,
Full of promise, each moment making its way.

This project, entitled "Unraveling My Ravels," delves into how I am coping with my struggles and fighting not to be overwhelmed by this Mississippi of melancholy, childhood traumas, unfulfilled love relationships, and the challenges of living with limited financial resources. It also touches on my journey as a young, passionate artist thriving in a less favorable and often misogynistic society. This project encapsulates all of my emotional stress and its impact on me as an individual.
