Okedoyin Oluwatosin
Okedoyin Oluwatosin Luli is a Nigerian fine artist known for his imaginative surrealist paintings, where human forms and emotions are abstractly rendered through colour, line, and bold visual distortion. A graduate of Lagos State Polytechnic, Luli primarily works with acrylic on canvas, developing a distinct style defined by dreamlike narratives, vibrant palettes, and distorted strokes.
Influenced by dreams and trances, Luli’s art exists between the subconscious and the symbolic. His subjects are often deconstructed, echoing the fluid nature of memory, perception, and cultural identity. Each piece becomes a portal into an internal landscape — filled with personal symbolism and universal metaphors.
Central to his artistic mission is a desire to bridge African traditional art with contemporary expression. He integrates iconic Yoruba damask and gele patterns into his compositions, creating a dialogue between the ancestral past and present realities. These motifs, layered with expressive linework and colour harmonies, enrich the emotional and conceptual weight of his paintings.
Luli’s work is not only visually compelling but also emotionally resonant. His distorted forms and detailed compositions act as visual metaphors, giving shape to feelings of contentment, introspection, and cultural rootedness.
With every canvas, Luli invites viewers into a textured universe — one that blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination, tradition and innovation.
