Mumpasi Meso
Mumpasi Meso was born on May 15, 1984.
Born in Mbanza Congo (Zaire), he was inspired by his father, the painter Mumpasi Za Meso, from whom he learned to paint mosaics under stone.
In 2009, he graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Five years later, in 2014, he held the Solo Exhibition “Impressionist Mosaic”, at the Tamar Golan Gallery, in Luanda.
In 2015, he participated in the book “A Face da Arte Angolana Contemporânea” – a project by the Fundação Arte e Cultura, in Luanda, which brought together 40 works by 20 national artists.
In 2016, he joined the residential collective of the 5th Edition of “Jovens Artistas Angolanos (JAANGO Nacional)”.
Mumpasi has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in several countries, such as Italy, Spain, Brazil and Holland.
The artist specializes in orchestrating colors and shapes using different techniques, creating his own signature. Mumpasi mainly paints portraits and figures, in which he returns to man's universal values and feelings and man's spiritual connection with his environment.
His work has won several awards, such as the award for Best International Painter at the prestigious VIII International Salon of Plastic Arts, Cia Arte Cultura 2018, in São Paulo, Brazil.
The artist interprets human consciousness at every moment.
