Intersections #3
The 3rd edition of the "Intersections" exhibition, which ran from 12 to 14 July, was a real success, celebrating Angola's vibrant contemporary art and offering attendees an unforgettable experience. The exhibition was supported by several brands that presented innovative experiences during the pre-opening.
The Exhibition and the Subjects Covered
The 3rd edition of "Intersections" brought together 9 talented Angolan artists - Babu, Don Sebas Cassule, Edilson Peregrino, Gegé M'bakudi, Júnior Jacinto, Paulo Amaral, Rómulo Santa Rita, Sapate and Thó Simões, who explored profound themes such as identity, memory, love, vulnerability and spiritual communication. Using a wide range of styles - from realism and pop art to abstract, folk, surrealism, street art and expressionism - each work offered a window into a world of reflections and emotions.
Sponsor Support and Activations
Angola Post and Fidelidade
In the room dedicated to Rómulo Santa Rita's stamp collection, Correios de Angola provided an interactive and memorable experience. A postmark was installed so that visitors could send postcards anywhere in the world. In addition, stamp collectors were able to buy blocks of stamps to add to their collection. This gesture not only connected visitors with the theme of stamps, but also promoted the importance of communication and memory.
The insurance company, Fidelidade Angola, was present in the same room, and took the opportunity to share and highlight a significant achievement: being present in 18 provinces of Angola. To celebrate this milestone, the artist Rómulo Santa Rita created a special work dedicated to the brand, which was transformed into a stamp template for a photo booth. This dynamic allowed visitors to transform themselves into stamps, choosing their favourite province and taking home a unique souvenir.
Pumangol and Thó Simões
In the room dedicated to the street art of Thó Simões, Pumangol collaborated with the artist to create an installation. Thó Simões worked on five of the brand's drums, reflecting Pumangol's values and colours. The process was documented on video, which was shown throughout the exhibition, showing the fusion between urban art and corporate identity.
Special Highlights
One of the most striking moments of the exhibition was the special edition created by Rómulo Santa Rita. The faces portrayed in his pieces are those of the women who work at Marina Baía, the venue that has hosted all the editions of "Intersections". This tribute not only emphasises the importance of women in our community, but also strengthens the link between art and the daily lives of the people who make Marina Baía a special place.
The 3rd edition of "Intersections" was an extraordinary celebration of contemporary Angolan art, enriched by collaborations with brands that brought innovative and engaging experiences. The exhibition provided unique moments that combined art, culture and innovation, leaving a lasting mark on the hearts of all visitors.
We thank the artists, sponsors and visitors for making this edition a memorable success. We look forward to the next edition and to continuing to celebrate Angola's cultural richness through art.
