Tosin Ogunniyi

Tosin Ogunniyi is a multidisciplinary artist from Eruwa, Oyo State, Nigeria. He began his artistic journey by obtaining a National Diploma in Fine Art from The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, in 2016/2018. His artistic exposure deepened during an impactful industrial training at Oluwole Omofemi’s painting studio in Ibadan (2018/2019), where he absorbed the master's distinctive style. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, Tosin’s work provides a unique narrative that illuminates the diverse experiences, challenges, and triumphs of individuals in his society.

Raised predominantly by his mother, a single parent who faced significant challenges after the loss of her husband, Tosin draws inspiration from the bittersweet essence of life. His art captures the respect for feminine figures in society and the broader black community. Merging charcoal and acrylics, he skillfully represents black and conceptual themes in his work. His art centers around love, hope, faith, romance, body positivity, and kindness, aiming to amplify underrepresented or marginalized voices. Through meticulous observation of individuals, Tosin emphasizes fairness and equality, challenging notions of superiority.

Ogunniyi’s compelling works have found a place in private collections both domestically and internationally, showcasing his dedication to capturing the essence of human experience and societal values.
