"The use of materials in my work is calculated. I often look for avenues for the unexpected. An ironic twist on images or things you might expect. Or their combinations. To provoke the viewer into new and perhaps unexplored territories."

Ochola Timothy

Ochola Timothy Onyango is a Kenyan visual artist whose creative path emerged from a foundation in landscape architecture, eventually leading him to fully embrace painting as his primary mode of expression. Based in Kenya, Timothy fuses the discipline of design with the freedom of fine art, creating what he describes as a "colourful fusion of creativity."

Through vibrant, earthy colours, bold contours, and layered symbolism, Timothy’s paintings are a celebration of African identity, culture, and energy, drawing from everyday activities and social rhythms. His work reflects on the dynamism of African life while questioning global change, societal direction, and the nature of human connection.

Working primarily with acrylics, oils, and watercolours, Timothy allows the flow of pigment and texture to guide his emotional expression. His technique invites unpredictability, often introducing ironic twists or unexpected material combinations that challenge viewer assumptions and open new interpretive pathways.
