Performance and Installation Art by Uolofe Griot

Contemporary African Art and Yoruba Cosmology

Fine Art Collectors and African Diaspora Artists

"For Uolofe Griot, art is an act of invocation — a space where memory becomes material, voice becomes sculpture, and gesture becomes language. Rooted in ancestral knowledge and ritual practice, his work resists linear narratives, instead unfolding through rhythm, repetition, and spiritual resonance.

He engages with found objects, sound recordings, and sacred symbols to create environments that are both intimate and collective. Through his practice, Griot reflects on displacement, transformation, and the enduring presence of African spiritual systems in contemporary life. His art does not seek to explain, but to embody: to make the invisible felt and the silenced heard.

Uólofe Griot

Uolofe Griot is a multidisciplinary artist working across performance, sculpture, installation, and sound. Based between West Africa and Europe, his practice is deeply informed by Yoruba cosmology, oral traditions, and the figure of the griot — the storyteller and keeper of ancestral memory. Griot’s work bridges ritual and contemporary art, creating immersive experiences that connect the spiritual and the political. His pieces have been exhibited in cultural spaces across Africa and the diaspora, where his voice-driven performances and assemblage-based installations continue to expand conversations around heritage, identity, and collective memory.
