I Chose to Be Black

"I Chose to be BLACK" is an exclusive Afrikanizm collection inspired by the global movement - Black Lives Matter. This collection was born out of the need to acknowledge and celebrate African identity that has been "buried" under the weight of colonialism and centuries of oppression.
 
The collection is by the talented Rwandan artist, Munyaneza Henry who decided to use his art to express the values, lifestyle and activities that have shaped African culture throughout history. Through his art, the artist aims to inspire and empower others to reclaim their African identity and embrace their heritage with pride.

"I Chose to be BLACK" showcases the power of art to tell stories, express emotions and bring about change. The collection invites viewers to reflect on the richness and diversity of African culture, as well as celebrate black beauty. It challenges us to break free from the prison of a limited mindset that has been imposed and embrace true identity.

According to the artist, the collection is also a tribute to the heroes who fought for African liberation, such as Mutara III Rudahigwa, Nelson Mandela and Thomas Sankara, and a call to action for all Africans to reclaim their cultural heritage. It also celebrates the resilience and strength of black people and invites us all to join together in celebrating our unique identity.
